I just got a black bed and dresser and i want to paint it white and then make it look antique. how do i do this?

so i want my room to have victorian black furniture with light pink walls and white trim. very....regal? chic i guess would be a good word. it wont let me put photos in but basically i have a big built in desk and set of shelves built into my wall (very annoying and way more than i need) bamboo floors- very small closet, big "antiqued" white dresser, brown victorian day bed, hot pink bed sheets, and a ton of stuffed animals on my bed. please do you have any idea how i can redo my room pretty? like ideas on details and stuff? thanks so much.

im painting my room tiffany box blue! i want some floor length yellow silk curtains for dramatic effect, and my furniture is mahogany, all victorian antiques. what's a good accent color for this room? how can i make it a little younger? im 14.

My husband, a wonderful carpenter, is going to build an entertainment center to completely enclose all his modern looking electronics since they don't match my country primitive living room! I need suggestions on where to find information on how to finish it in the primitive style - well used and instantly old! I think I want to do a two tone finish - a dark red under black, but am unsure whether to crackle finish it or distress the edges, etc. Any suggestions?

My mom LOVES antique furniture and completely filled my room with it. the thing is, i HATE victorian/antique furniture. my walls and rug are baby blue. i've tried to cover it with posters but it ends up looking bad. my dad would agreed to it but my mom is the head honcho and calls the shots. she would just say NO there will be nowhere else to put the furniture you have now and i wont pay a ton of money for you to redecorate.

i'm 14 and starting high school in august. my room doesn't reflect my style whatsoever and all the furniture makes my room look messier than it already is. My style has drastically changed since i painted the walls baby blue and picked the same color for the rug. HHEELPPPPP!!!!

The book can cover just the last 200 years as I doubt I'd find anything older. If it had web site references that would be great.

I am supposed to be buying this dining room set from a lady on Craigslist. I went to look at it yesterday and really like the style of the furniture. It's a 15-year old set and it's a Drexel Heritage collection. There are eight chairs (2 arm and 6 side), a buffet and china cabinet with hutch. The table also has two leafs. Overall, it is in good condition. There is a scratch on the left side of the table (on the top) that will need to be buffed out and repaired, but it's not too bad. The chair cushions are like cordouroy or something so I am going to buy some fabric that I like and recover them. Other than a couple of minor knicks (normal wear and tear) on the buffet everything looks good.

Do you think this is worth 0? I know you can't get quality furniture anywhere for that price, but I want to make sure I am doing the right thing. I need other opinions. In my living room I have chocolate brown leather with claw feet and hands (the wood is mahogany). The end tables and coffee tables are also a mahogany with marble tops. I like Victorian style furniture.

Is this furniture too old-fashioned for a 31 year old. I like stylish furniture but I like an antique/old look. I am not into contemporary.

Will this work, or is the Ikea wood not real wood? If I can what kind of paint do you think I should use?
