I live in a 130 year old victorian house. I have a family room where we watch TV, hang out and stuff. It needs to be comfortable, but I want the furnishings to be appropriate for the house. Not necessarily victorian, but at least traditional in design. I have enough other rooms in the house that are period specific, I can have one room that is more comfortable and "user friendly".

My problem is that modern day furniture doesn't really fit into the size of this room. Its a small room 14'x16' and its got four walls, not an open floor plan like most homes today. One wall has a window, the second wall a window and a door to the front porch, the third wall a small door to the dining room and the fourth wall a small door to the kitchen. No open archways or anything like that, just a very small-feeling, enclosed (but cozy!) room.

I need comfortable furniture. My husband and I fight over the couch. Neither one of us finds chairs comfortable. I hate recliners. I'm actually leaning toward a traditional style leather sectional to wrap around two walls. I'm just not sure if that will seem too big for such a room? Although I do need furniture that will give me maximum seating in minimum space. Any ideas for furnishing?

ok so i just moved about a year ago..i was shooting for a fancy victorian kinda theme..i have a wrought iron sleigh bed and black and white dressers..my theme was all black and white but its hard to keep everything black and white..and its sorta depressing..so i want to change my room to a sortof victorian medevil..like not creepy all black gothic.. but like haunted mansion kinda old cherry furniture and old pictures on the walls in oval frames and statues and stuff. i allready have a chandalier with candles..any websites or anything specific u find online!!! please post!!!! i will appreciate it so much!!! also i want a peel off mural..maybe of a big old fireplace or sumthing..or tall bookshelves..THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!

I want to redecorate my home (nothing major like painting or buying any new furniture) but small stuff like adding some vases, wall plates etc.
I have wooden floors and wooden furniture. Most of it is pretty dark but not dark as in the victorian times.
I like to have a country theme (NOT RUSTIC) and I hate clutter. I want to have a bungalow kind of theme with dainty teapots and teacups (again not all over the place). I like wall plates ( antique or I have seen these really nice blue and white printed plates. I like to have lacy table clothes.
I have all these ideas I dont know how to put all these together. I've tried searching online but I dont know what my style of decorating is. So its kind of hard to narrow my search. Any advice would be great.

right now its a teal color with tan carpeting (possibly can be ripped up...there might be hardwood underneath, but we dont know yet), mismatched furniture, and a white bedspread with multicolored polkadots on it (teal, brown, green, blue, aqua)
i was thinking one of two ways to redecorate:
dark purple walls and a white and black flowery bedspread, and painting some of the furniture white (desk), and some of it black (bookshelf), and maybe purple (dresser)
i was also thinking maybe a very light/bright and semi victorian style
maybe a white bedspread with brightly or pastel colored flowers, painting the furniture white, and maybe keeping the current paint color, or choosing like a pastel pink or something.
please help, and any other suggestions are appreciated. also, my mom doesnt want to spend a lot on it, so cheap suggestions would be better.

So i'm 13, and im redecorating/organizing my room because the color scheme is brown dark green and red! I HATE IT, so I am making it look like a pink, black, white victorian chic. I'm moving into my brothers old room and i want to make a fresh start. I want a travel /vintage theme with victorian touches.The walls are tannish brown and most of the furniture is a dark cherry wood.
Id appreciate help because i have an idea but for the most part im kinda lost.
So basically i want a vintage/ travel/ slightly victorian room. and besides brown the room would have blue too.
Oh an i have this zebra print material id like to throw in somewhere if thats possible haha.

I had a dream where I was in this building that was shaped like a "regular" octagon, that was made of redwood and towered up really high into the sky, about forty stories high. The building was about fifteen feet wide all around. Into the ground, the building had a really beautiful, victorian style basement with torches and long rugs, but no furniture (just plants). The basement was shaped like a big square donut shape with a ladder to lead up to the tower.... and where it wasn't the tower, there were really pretty octagon shaped ceiling windows. Like this:

In that dream, I was with some unknown people, who had odd tattoos on their faces and stuff, wore exotic clothes, and stuff, and I was wearing odd stuff too. But I was really happy, thought the building was beautiful, and I was with this guy with blue hair. I think I might have had superpowers and stuff, but I don't remember.

Rotfl, I'm homeless... I sold my home to buy a laptop and an internet connection, and here I am today.

I'm moving and to a new home and where I can paint my bedroom in whatever color I want (I couldn't where I'm currently living).
